Indonesia-China Bilateral Government-to-Government South-South Exchanges (Field Visit to Bantar Gebang – Showcasing Waste-to-Energy Solutions)
On 27 May 2025, as part of the Indonesia–China Bilateral South-South Exchange, the Chinese delegation visited TPST Bantar Gebang in Bekasi, one of Indonesia’s leading waste management facilities. The site demonstrated innovative waste-to-energy practices using Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF), highlighting how Jakarta’s municipal waste can be recovered and transformed into alternative energy within a circular economy framework.
The visit offered delegates first-hand insights into Indonesia’s integrated waste management strategies, showcasing not only technical operations but also the potential of RDF to support low-carbon development. This exchange reinforced opportunities for bilateral learning and collaboration in scaling sustainable waste-to-energy solutions in both Indonesia and China.
